About Molly
Molly McDonough, soprano, is an Iowa native based in Boston. She is currently a master’s student studying Opera Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. This past spring, she debuted with Boston Conservatory Opera as Tytania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In the spring of 2023, Molly obtained her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Drake University.
In the summer of 2023, Molly was a Smith Young Artist with Cedar Rapids Opera, making her role debut as La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. While at Drake University, she performed Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel and participated in various opera scenes. Molly made her role debut with Des Moines Metro Opera as Papagena (cover) from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in 2022. In the past, Molly has been a finalist in many competitions, including 1st Place in the National NATS Competition (2022) and 2nd Place in the National MTNA Voice Competition (2022).
Molly is passionate about making classical music accessible to everyone, no matter who or where they are. Many articles have been written about Molly’s intergenerational singing and living experience including one from the Washington Post.
Molly sings weekly as a staff singer at Trinity Church in Copley Square, located in Back Bay, Boston. She is also a proud cat mom of two boys, Frank and Almond.
